Switch onto Employment (Opportunity Youth)

Switch onto Employment is a project designed to meet the literacy and numeracy needs of young people aged 16-24 who are not in employment, education or training. Switch onto Employment is an intensive 12-week programme designed to help those involved achieve their essential skills in English, Maths and an ICT qualification. In addition, to these subjects they work towards gaining OCN qualifications in Employability and Personal Development.
Like everywhere else, youth unemployment is a massive issue in Northern Ireland. By gaining valuable experience, developing new skills and re-examining their aspirations, Opportunity Youth attempt to provide a better platform for these young people to discover a valuable direction in life. For some young people the future is an achievement not a gift.

We are currently looking for employers to partner with us in order to provide work experience. This may mean a tour of a business, a one day individual placement or a longer term placement. If you feel that your company could provide the opportunity for a young person to gain some work experience please contact Peter Burke (Employment Placement Officer) on 90435810 or peter.burke@opportunity-youth.org.
