Social Justice Approach to Community Development Small Grants Programme
The Community Foundation of Northern Ireland have announced a small grants programme….
Is there a social issue in your local community, or community of interest? Does your group want support to tackle this? Are you struggling to have your collective voice heard? Are you perhaps concerned about the potential impact of the welfare reforms in your community? Would mentoring support and a small grant help to move your issue forward?
The Social Justice Approach to Community Development Programme, funded by Atlantic Philanthropies, aims to support groups to address local issues through collective social rights – such as the right of communities to be heard and to challenge poverty and social exclusion.
Successful applicants will have the services of an experienced community support worker for 3-4 days at mutually agreed times. They will facilitate engagement with committee members and residents in an agreed piece of work. As part of this process you will explore relationships within your local community or community of interest and more widely, including relationships with statutory agencies and elected representatives.
The Small Grants Programme is now open for applications until 16th December 2013. The number of awards is limited and early application is advised.
