On Friday 3rd October 2014, Crumlin/Ardoyne Neighbourhood Renewal’s Health and Wellbeing Working Group launched the North Belfast Quit Campaign Charter, at Cliftonville Community Centre, Manor Street, Belfast.
The Smoking Cessation Sub Group (devised from the Health and Wellbeing Working Group) was established to take forward the key priority in the Health & Wellbeing Sub Group’s Action Plan to promote ‘Healthy Lifestyle Choices’. This is the first time that a group has taken lead in such a campaign especially in North Belfast. The group now wishes to move forward with the plan of extending this charter out to the rest of North Belfast.
We are asking you or anyone you have contact with to promote this fantastic campaign to support workers/friends and acquaintances to help them to give up smoking. The Charter is attached and we are asking that every Neighbourhood Renewal group in ALL of North Belfast sign up to it. I will deliver a pack once you have agreed to register with this campaign. We are also offering Brief Intervention Training for FREE – this gives everyone an insight into smoking cessation and enables people to get a better understanding of smoking and the consequences. We ask that any organisation that signs up to the charter that ONE person form their organisation is Brief Intervention trained.
Even though Crumlin/Ardoyne NR Partnership devised this charter as a community we need to pull together and promote this campaign – the statistics of young people smoking from as early as 12 and pregnant mothers that smoke are horrifying – so let’s all take this step forward and show the rest of Belfast that North Belfast are ready to ‘Punch the Habit!’
To register for the training and to sign up to the Charter please contact myself – Louise Moore at: email@example.com or ring on 07793 487222.
