Greater Ballysillan Draft Masterplan & Public Consultation

Part of the Draft Masterplan

In the Spring of 2013, a masterplan for the future of Greater Ballysillan was commissioned by the Department for Social Development with Ballysillan / Upper Ardoyne Neighbourhood Partnership and North Belfast Partnership.  The draft masterplan, which has been prepared by consultants The Paul Hogarth Company, is presently out to public consultation and sets out a vision for next 10 to 20 years and will be used by local and central government, community groups and the private sector to prioritise regeneration investment in the area.  Some of the projects contained within the draft masterplan are designed for delivery over the next 2 to 3 years, whilst others are for the longer term.

The plan seeks to support and enhance the positive attributes of Greater Ballysillan, whilst also working to address the various social, economic and physical issues it currently faces, so as to benefit all who live and work there.  The ongoing masterplan process has involved extensive research and consultation with local people and organisations, including community groups and school pupils.  Now, as the initial ideas start to emerge, we are inviting the public to review these draft proposals, make suggestions and help us to improve upon the plan.

Details of the 8 week consultation process, which began on 21 October 2013 including the 12 locations throughout Greater Ballysillan where you can view the draft proposals in full, are included below.  Dates and times of drop-in events, where you will have the opportunity to speak to some of those behind the plan to learn more, are also listed.
