Have you considered taking part in Belfast’s biggest celebration?
Culture Night Belfast has become one of the highlights of Belfast’s cultural calendar. From a programme of 100 events in the first year, and an audience of 15,000, last year’s programme saw over 250 events and an audience of 42,000 people, all within one night. This year, Culture Night Belfast will take place on Friday 19 September, with the peak of activity taking place during a six hour window between 4pm and 10pm (but with some events starting before or going on later). The hub of activity is in the Cathedral Quarter, but events take place throughout the city.
On Culture Night, venues, galleries, artists’ studios, historic buildings, cultural organisations, churches and many more will open their doors to invite the public to explore what they do and enjoy free performances, events, talks and tours. There will be also be a host of on-street activities and events taking place in the public squares, outdoor areas and pedestrianised streets of the Cathedral Quarter. It’s a night of carnivalesque adventure like no other!
Our interpretation of Culture is very wide – in previous years we’ve had a broad range of events from everything from opera to techno and roller derby to wrestling.
Culture Night is for everyone to enjoy. All Culture Night events are free to partake in. Since 2009, a clear focus on family-friendly programming has succeeded in attracting an unprecedented number of families as well as people of all ages and backgrounds.
We are looking for groups and organisations to hold an event on Culture Night…are you involved in a community project you’d like to showcase? Do you have any arts activity you’d like to profile? Or do you just have an idea for an event you’d like to try out? If so we’d love to hear from you.
The deadline for submitting an event is the 1st July but don’t worry if you’re idea isn’t finalised by this time – we can help you firm up your plans in the following weeks. For loads more information on taking part, please read the CNB14 tool-kit http://www.culturenightbelfast.com/CNB14_Toolkit.pdf and feel free to pick up the phone and talk to one of the team.
